Since its Grand Opening Day in 1925, which marked the first organized racing in Cincinnati since the closing of the Old Oakley Race Course in 1910, River Downs has offered racing fans the pleasure of taking in the races at this beautiful track for over three-quarters of a century.
The track originally named "Coney Island" due its location adjacent to Coney Island Amusement Park, managed to survive the disastrous Cincinnati flood of 1937 and re-opened under the name of "River Downs." Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. purchased River Downs in 2011.
On October 23, 2013, officials from Pinnacle announced that River Downs would be renamed Belterra Park, effective immediately.
